A friendly field guide for writing Food Army resources in Discord.
Headings
Start a line with #, ##, or ### to make a heading.
This is a third-level heading
Emphasis and corrections
Write **bold** for bold, *italics* for italics, and ***both*** for both.
Use <u>underline</u> for underline and ~~strikethrough~~ for strikethrough.
Put something between two pairs of bars, like <span class="discord-spoiler" tabindex="0">hidden detail</span>, to make a spoiler that appears when opened.
Quotes
Start a line with > for a block quote.
Keep the useful part easy to find.
A quote can continue across several lines.
Use >>> when the rest of a message should be one continuous quote.
Lists
Use - for bullets and indent to nest an item:
- Choose the topic
- Share what you learned
- Add a source when one is available
- Update the resource when the facts change
Use numbers for steps:
- Write a clear title
- Explain the useful idea
- Add the right forum tags
Links
Write [helpful label](https://example.com) to create a helpful labeled link. A plain link such as https://discord.com also works.
Code and exact text
Wrap a short value in backticks, like soil_moisture, to keep it exact.
Use three backticks for a code block:
bed: north-03
status: ready
next: seed
Small notes
Start a line with -# for quieter supporting text.
This is useful for a source note or a brief aside.
That is the Markdown Food Army resources currently carry from Discord into the website.
